2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Los Ricos Vineyard

100% Cabernet Sauvignon, the ’18 Los Ricos comes from a low producing, single acre block a half mile west and 300 feet below the Brothers Vineyard, where it enjoys an eastern slope with morning sun exposure and well-drained volcanic soils.  On the Wine Spectator's Insider’s list of most exciting new releases, James Molesworth describes the wine as “packed, with a loamy-edged frame harnessing the core of steeped plum, blackberry and black current fruit.  The loam edge asserts itself on the finish, with tobacco and worn cedar notes filling in as the fruit keeps pace.  A solid, muscular style.  Best from 2022 through 2036.”  (Wine Spectator 10/15/21; 94 points; 112 cases produced.)

Wine Profile
Winemaker Notes
2018 is such a pure and bright version of the ever striking wines from the east-facing Los Ricos Vineyard. It sparkles with the purity of everything which makes this site special – morning sunshine, a gentle slope, and well-drained, volcanic soils. The bouquet is a mix of cranberries and cedar. The palate is weightless, generous, and graceful, the tannins lifted and fine.
