For Wine deliveries in California –- you will have the opportunity to select among carriers and delivery modes before finalizing your order -- please be sure to select the option giving the best service in your delivery area. Depending on the time of year, you will want to take weather risks into consideration, as most carriers do not guarantee temperature control for most delivery modes. Our shipping charges are based on the predominant charge for shipments to a given state by a given carrier -- Snowden does not add our own handling fee or other margin. We attempt to time shipments to minimize weather concerns. For more on our shipping practices, please see "Shipping Information" at the bottom of any of our webpages. An adult must be present to sign for receipt of a shipment.
Pick Up Versus Shipping Your Order - if you are going to be in the Napa Valley anytime soon, instead of having your order shipped, you can pick up your order at our office in St. Helena. The price of the wine will be the same, whether you have it shipped or pick it up in St. Helena. However, for picked-up orders, there is no shipping charge and sales taxes applicable in St. Helena will apply, rather than the sales taxes applicable at the destination to which you would otherwise be shipping the wine. For Gift Packs - when ordering a gift pack, you can either have the wine shipped to yourself or directly to the recipient (as long as the destination is in a state where it's legal for us to ship). To have the gift pack shipped to the recipient, in the “shipping information” section of the order form, under “ship to” select “new shipping address” and complete the information for the recipient. We'll be happy to include a card with your message to the recipient – just enter your message in the window at the end of the “shipping information” section.
For Gift Certificates –- when placing an order for a gift certificate, you will be asked to provide certain “Shipping Information.” Be sure to select “New Shipping Address” – you will then be able to enter the recipient’s name, email address (our gift certificates are delivered to the recipient by email) and a note from you which is included in the transmittal email. Your entire order will be sent to the "New Shipping Address," so if you wish to purchase wine for yourself and send someone else a gift certificate, you will need to create separate orders.
