2018 Sauvignon Blanc "Sunninghill"

We produce this Sauvignon Blanc as a "family wine," meaning we make it exactly how we like it and drink most of it ourselves.  Winemaker Diana Seysses' makes the wine in a classic style -- we pick the fuit around 22.5 degrees brix, barrel ferment with wild native yeasts, no malolactic fermentation, and age the wine on the lies, stirring every couple of months until bottling, unfiltered, in the spring. It's 100% Clone 1 Sauvignon Blanc, 1,836 bottles produced, closed with Saranex-lined screw caps for purity and freshness.

Winemaker Notes
We have exactly one acre of Sauvignon Blanc, located in the midst of our otherwise-Cabernet Lost Orchard Vineyard at 800 feet elevation, way at the east end of the property. Whenever I work with Sauvignon Blanc, I'm thinking of the centuries-long tradition of the variety: I order harvest around 22.5 degrees brix, foot crush (the fruit comes in very cold!), barrel ferment, age sur lies, and bottle unfiltered in the spring. The '18 is a classic Snowden Sauvignon Blanc -- crisp and fresh, citrus with a touch of flower on the nose, then mineral and stone underneath. If you drink the wine early, the mineral and acid are more forward. As the wine moves from 18 months to two years old, expect the fruit to gradually edge forward.
