2018 Rosé of Merlot "Lost Vineyard"

Join us as we continue to explore our locatioins and varieties through the lens of rosé.  Our first rosé from the "Lost Vineyard" -- our two acre block of Merlot, the fruit was tended and harvested specifically to become a true rosé -- picked before the reds, no forced extraction, dry and fresh, but balanced with floral aromatics and subtle fruit.  We produced just 1,044 bottles of the '18 Rosé from 100% Merlot, which we bottled unfiltered and closed with Saranex-lined screw caps for purity and freshness.

Winemaker Notes
I've worked with Merlot in a rosé blend in Provence, but this was my first foray into a rosé made entirely from Merlot. We are delighted with its freshness and balance. The fruit came in on September 13, well before we harvested for our red Merlot. Timing harvest for rosé is not a guarantee, but it is a must. The result is a bright and refreshing summer rosé which will be the perfect match for grilled salmon, spicy chicken wings, or a baguette with a thin slice of smoked pork.
