2023 Merlot Lost Vineyard
Winemaker Diana Snowden Seysses thinks the '23 Merlot is the most expressive to come from our 2 acre Lost Vineyard block since it was planted in 1994. There are aromas of black plum, licorice, and violet -- signatures of our site -- while on the palate supple fruit is framed by chalky tannins and a hint of brown sugar -- perhaps from the toasted French oak barrels, as the wine is elegant and dry -- all leading to a lingering finish.

Vineyard Notes
Winter and spring rains replenished our reservoirs, restored the water table, and saturated the fields, setting the stage for a healthy growing season. The weather remained cool and even throughout the year, with flowering and harvest unfolding steadily and without pressure. The 2023 vintage enjoyed one of the longest growing seasons in recent memory, allowing for generous hang time and gradual ripening. The resulting wines are refined and poised—marked by depth of fruit, balanced acidity, and a quiet, weightless elegance.
