2023 Grenache Ward Eisan Vineyard
Our first vintage of Grenache as a stand-alone bottling is full-bodied and juicy, with a rich, earthy warmth. The wine comes from a block we named after Ward Eisan, who was the brother of our predecessor in title, as well as a neighbor when we arrived at the ranch in 1955 -- and more important, Ward had been managing all the vineyards and orchards before our arrival. Less than half an acre, we have been using the tiny Eisan Block to learn how southern Rhone varietals perform on our site. 72 cases produced.

Wine Profile
Vineyard Notes
Winter and spring rains replenished our reservoirs, restored the water table, and saturated the fields, setting the stage for a healthy growing season. The weather remained cool and even throughout the year, with flowering and harvest unfolding steadily and without pressure. The 2023 vintage enjoyed one of the longest growing seasons in recent memory, allowing for generous hang time and gradual ripening. The resulting wines are refined and poised—marked by depth of fruit, balanced acidity, and a quiet, weightless elegance.
Winemaker Notes
The 2023 Grenache unruly and luscious, bursting with lively red fruit—strawberries and cherries—layered with notes of tea leaf, tobacco, clove, and licorice. It’s an expressive, generous wine, full of energy and sunshine, offering a natural harmony with a range of dishes, from smoky to spicy.
