2017 Cabernet Sauvignon "Los Ricos Vineyard"
Our Los Ricos Vineyard is a single acre at 650 feet of elevation with a steep eastern exposure, which gives the vines more morning sun and less afternoon sun. The site is a low producer - we made just 1,236 bottles of Los Ricos in 2017 - and the wine balances stylish aromatics and fruit against the timeless character of the site. Winemaker Diana Seysses refers to the '17 as "radiant" and "vibrant," with "sublimely fine tannins." Critic Antonio Galloni says the wine is "super-expressive in its aromatics, with lovely floral and savory character." Fermented with native, wild yeasts, the wine was in barrel before the fires of 2017 broke out. Aged for 18 months in French oak, it was bottled unblended, unfiltered, and unfined in the spring of 2019.
