2017 Cabernet Sauvignon "The Ranch"
Cabernet Sauvignon -- from the Pool Block at 650 feet of elevation and the Lost Orchard vineyard at 800 feet -- is blended with 15% Merlot from our "Lost Vineyard" block to produce this bright and supple terroir-driven wine in the classic style. Winemaker Diana Seysses describes the wine as "perfect in proportion, precision and weight." Wine writer Antonio Galloni calls it "gracious," with "lovely aromatics" and a "core of sweet red berry fruit." Harvested before the 2017 fires broke out, fermented using native, wild yeasts and aged for 17 months in French oak before being bottled unfiltered and unfined in April, 2019, we produced 1,008 cases.
