Wine-Specific Conditions

Legal Requirements

You must be 21 years of age or older, to order or receive alcoholic beverages from Snowden Vineyards. Receipt of shipments containing alcoholic beverages requires the signature of a sober adult (a person 21 years of age or older who is not intoxicated). While you may have wine delivered to your residence, we recommend having it delivered to a business address if possible to increase the chances that an adult will be present when the delivery is attempted.

Wines purchased from Snowden Vineyards through this website are not for resale, and are for personal consumption only.

Credit Card Charges

Orders are by credit card only. We accept Visa, MasterCard, and American Express. (or others of you do)

Minimum Purchase

No minimum purchase is required. (you can set one if you’d like)

States Authorized for Direct Shipment

Federal laws and the laws of many states tightly regulate the sale of wine.  Snowden Vineyards endeavors to adhere strictly to all such regulations.  This website has been configured to accept orders only if they meet the requriements of all such regulations.  However, some states impose separate reqirements on sellers and purchasers and it may not be possible for sellers to monitor and assess whether the purchaser meets such requirements.  Our purchasers are meeting all such requirements applicable in the state to which their order will be shipped.

At the present time, Snowden Vineyards is qualified to ship wine for direct purchase to the following states: Alaska, California Colorado, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Virginia, and Washington.  For certain other states, it may be possible for us to arrange for the legal sale and delivery to a third party agent in California who would then deliver the wine to you. Please contact our office by telephone to explore such arrangements.  Please note, when dealing through a third party, wine prices, discounts, and shipping costs may differ from those quoted by Snowden Vineyards.

Shippers and Shipping Costs

Federal Express Ground is Snowden Vineyards' carrier and mode of choice for shipments in California.  It is also our carrier and mode of choice for shipments to other parts of the continential United States except during the warmer summer months, when we prefer Federal Express 2-Day to reduce the possibility of heat damage to the wine in transit.  Customers are urged to carefully consider which carrier and mode to utilize for your orders because different carriers often have better service in specific areas.  Our shipping rates are "blended rates" based on estimated average charges for shipments of the indicated number of bottles to the indicated states.  For a specific transaction, our actual shipping costs may be higher or lower than the rate which we charge customers, however, we endeavor to estimate accurate average shipping costs based on rates charged us by our fulfillment service and we do not intentionally add any handling fee or other margin to the rates Snowden Vineyards charges its customers.

Wine is a Delicate Commodity

Wine is a perishable commodity. Wine does not like extremes of temperature: hot humid summer and cold winter weather may adversely affect the condition of your wine during shipment.  Because customers select the mode of transportation for their orders, Snowden Vineyards cannot be responsible for wine that is damaged by extreme weather conditions during shipment. When a wine order is picked up by the common carrier for delivery, responsibility for the wine becomes the responsibility of the purchaser.
