In 2005 the U.S. Supreme Court issued a ruling that opened a few new states and perhaps 30% of the population of the country to direct shipment of wines. While in general this is a good thing for a tiny operation like Snowden, it has had some unanticipated consequences. Many states that previously ignored small shipments of wine now regulate them. Thus, we at Snowden are having to obtain permits from many states in order to legally ship to customers. This is a complicated process in some cases. We ask that you bear with us as we get the necessary permits.

In general, we can tell you these things:

There are a few states that we simply are not legally able to ship to. Currently we cannot send wine to Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Montana, New Jersey, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee or Utah.

The following states limit shipments to 2 cases per individual: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, New Mexico, Oregon, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming.

The following states have other limitations upon the amount of wine that can be shipped to an individual: Georgia (5 cases), Indiana (1 btl), Maine (6 btls), Michigan (12 btls), Nebraska (12 btls), Nevada (12 btls), North Carolina (2 cases 3 btls), Rhode Island (3 cases 6 btls), South Carolina (6 btls), Texas (18 btls), Virginia (6 btls), Washington, D.C. (6 btls).
